North American distributor Well Go USA has acquired rights to director Park Hoon-jung's upcoming assassin noir feature "Tristes Tropiques," according to a report from Variety.
South Korean sales agent Finecut concluded the North American pact alongside distribution agreements in key European markets. Swift Distribution secured theatrical and home rights covering France and Spain as part of the sales push leading into the American Film Market.
Park is best known for directing Korean genre hits such as the crime saga "New World" and the action franchise "The Witch." His latest feature is scheduled to launch theatrically in South Korea on November 25.
Finecut is actively presenting the project to additional buyers as part of its AFM slate, capitalizing on the director's track record with international genre audiences.
For specialty labels like Well Go USA, established Korean action filmmakers remain an essential pillar for targeted theatrical releases and home entertainment. Hollywood Tomorrow notes that steady consumer demand for stylized Asian action cinema continues to justify early international territory pickups despite a cautious overall marketplace.
