Maika Monroe Sequels Advance as 'They Follow' and 'Onslaught' Gain Traction

Production has officially wrapped on *They Follow*, marking the next chapter in the franchise established by the 2014 breakout horror feature *It Follows*. Lead star Maika Monroe returns to anchor the follow-up, as reported by Polygon.

The development arrives as another of Monroe's defining 2014 titles expands its footprint. Director Adam Wingard is revisiting the world of *The Guest* through *Onslaught*, an upcoming project confirmed to take place within the same continuity as the original action thriller.

Monroe's trajectory across the past decade has cemented her status as a core figure in modern horror. After her dual breakout roles a decade ago, the actor has maintained steady genre momentum, recently headlining the box office performer *Longlegs* alongside the upcoming project *Victorian Psycho*.

For the independent horror market, revisiting established mid-budget titles from the previous decade provides financiers with recognizable IP and lower theatrical risk. As Hollywood Tomorrow notes, expanding proven cult properties from the 2010s allows distributors to capture dedicated genre audiences in an increasingly volatile theatrical marketplace.

With *They Follow* now entering post-production and Wingard moving forward on *Onslaught*, Monroe sits at the intersection of two distinct mid-2010s cult properties transitioning into broader cinematic franchises.
