Sara Bareilles is keeping the door open for a return to *Girls5eva*, stating that the ensemble cast is ready to reprise their roles for a potential movie adaptation following the comedy's conclusion after three seasons.
In comments reported by Deadline, the Grammy-winning musician and actress revealed she is "still holding out" for a feature-length project, adding, "We'd do it in a heartbeat."
Created by Meredith Scardino and executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the musical satire tracked a defunct late-1990s girl group attempting a midlife pop comeback. The series debuted on Peacock in 2021, where it aired two seasons before being canceled and subsequently picked up by Netflix for its third and final run, which premiered in 2024.
Bareilles starred alongside Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps, and Paula Pell. Despite strong critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination for writing, the series struggled to build a breakout viewership across both streaming homes.
The prospect of a wrap-up movie remains a popular wish among creative teams behind niche streaming comedies, though Hollywood Tomorrow notes that financiers rarely greenlight follow-up features for properties that already exhausted two different platform audiences. For now, any prospective revival remains purely aspirational.
