Disney+ is expanding its European footprint through a new distribution alliance with British public broadcaster Channel 4, set to launch across the United Kingdom and Ireland in early 2027, according to reporting by TheWrap.

Under the terms of the agreement, Disney+ subscribers will gain access to Channel 4's linear HD network alongside hundreds of hours of on-demand content. The programming will live inside a dedicated branded hub that matches the platform's standard user interface, with day-and-date access provided for numerous titles at no additional cost.

The pact includes a slate of high-profile scripted and unscripted television. Among the offerings are the Bella Ramsey-fronted drama Maya, the Denise Welch comedy Stepping Up, reality competition Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, and titles such as Big Mood, Tip Toe and 24 Hours in A&E.

## Global Aggregation Strategy

The integration arrives as Disney prepares a wider effort to triple its slate of local original series across international markets over the next three years. The strategy is designed to combat subscriber churn and attract regional audiences ahead of a broader repositioning of Disney+ as the company's central digital platform starting this spring.

Hollywood Tomorrow views the Channel 4 deal as part of an accelerating industry-wide shift toward hybrid distribution models overseas. Rather than relying entirely on standalone direct-to-consumer catalogs, major studio streamers are increasingly aggregating local free-to-air inventory to strengthen household retention without bearing full production costs.

The Channel 4 pact mirrors similar carriage and content pacts Disney has secured across Europe and beyond. The company already maintains distribution tie-ups with ITVX and Sky in the British Isles, M6 Group in France, RAI in Italy, RTVE and Atresmedia in Spain, ARD and ZDF in Germany, SIC in Portugal, Astro in Malaysia, and TV Azteca in Mexico.
