YouTube has locked down the exclusive global livestreaming rights to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival through 2030, keeping one of live music's marquee events on the platform for the rest of the decade.

The multi-year extension expands a broadcast relationship with festival promoter Goldenvoice that has spanned nearly 15 years. Under the agreement, YouTube will remain the sole free streaming destination for performances across both festival weekends in Indio, California.

The contract renewal follows this year's festival cycle, which featured high-profile performances from artists including Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G across YouTube's multi-stage feeds.

Along with the festival renewal, YouTube introduced several new platform capabilities, including microdrama-style narrative formats for Shorts and AI-driven creation tools for its Studio and Music products, according to reporting by Variety - Digital.

For YouTube, locking in premier live music tentpoles remains a critical tool to defend its cultural footprint against rival video platforms. Hollywood Tomorrow notes that while traditional subscription streamers focus on acquiring expensive live sports, YouTube's dominance in free music broadcasting provides a massive audience funnel directly into its creator and short-form ecosystems.
