Valve is overhauling how progression is categorized on its digital storefront, launching a feature called achievement sets that allows studios to segment unlockables between core titles and downloadable add-ons.

According to details reported by The Verge, the feature changes how achievements appear in post-game tracking without altering the moment-to-moment gameplay. In titles utilizing the new architecture, players continue to earn milestones normally, but post-session browsing will present segmented categories rather than one unified list.

The adjustment addresses a persistent friction point across PC gaming storefronts. For years, completionists who attained 100 percent status on a base title saw their overall profile completion rates drop whenever developers released post-launch DLC with additional required tasks.

From an industry perspective, Hollywood Tomorrow notes that retention mechanics and long-tail monetization rely increasingly on post-launch expansions. Giving developers tools to reward DLC buyers without penalizing base-game completionists removes a subtle disincentive that has irritated core user communities across interactive platforms.

Developers will need to configure sets for their respective titles. The rollout represents one of Valve's more focused quality-of-life updates to its community interface in recent months as the platform continues to refine its ecosystem for both publishers and players.
