Sandra Bullock Weighs Third 'Practical Magic' Film Ahead of Sequel

The Owens family saga may expand beyond its upcoming second installment if audiences turn out this fall. Sandra Bullock has indicated that a third entry in the Practical Magic series remains a possibility, contingent on theatrical returns for the upcoming sequel, according to Deadline.

The actor is set to return as Sally Owens in Practical Magic 2, which arrives in theaters on Sept. 10. Oscar winner Susanne Bier directed the project, which reunites Bullock with original co-star Nicole Kidman decades after the 1998 romantic fantasy debuted.

Addressing the prospect of turning the revival into a full trilogy, Bullock noted to Deadline that any further continuation would depend on ticket sales. She also expressed a desire to "pass the torch" to a newer generation of performers rather than continuing to center the narrative indefinitely.

Nostalgia-driven legacy sequels face a complex theatrical landscape where catalog titles must balance original fan affection with younger demographic pull. The studio is testing whether the enduring cult following around the 1998 original can convert into modern theatrical traction.
