Duncan Crabtree-Ireland will lead SAG-AFTRA through the next decade after the guild's national board voted on Saturday to approve a four-year contract extension.
The decision, reported by Variety, locks in the union's top operational executive through June 20, 2032. His prior employment agreement had been scheduled to expire in 2028.
In addition to the multiyear extension, the board voted to grant Crabtree-Ireland the formal title of chief executive officer alongside his existing position as national executive director.
Financial terms of the renewed agreement were not disclosed by the labor organization.
The decision signals strong institutional backing for Crabtree-Ireland following his leadership during the historic 118-day actors strike in 2023, which yielded landmark provisions regarding streaming residuals and protections surrounding artificial intelligence.
As Hollywood Tomorrow notes, locking in executive leadership through 2032 provides rare stability for the union as it prepares for subsequent master contract renegotiations and the ongoing enforcement of digital likeness rules across film, television, and interactive media.
