ReedPop is expanding its business-to-business footprint at New York Comic Con, detailing an extensive five-day slate of professional programming set for the venue's River Pavilion, according to a report from The Toy Book.
The lineup targets industry professionals across film, television, gaming, publishing, and marketing. A substantial portion of the programming specifically addresses executives in consumer products, licensing, retail, and toy manufacturing looking to coordinate brand strategies.
Activities begin on Wednesday, Oct. 7, with the third annual NYCC Retailer Day. The preliminary day includes publisher presentations, creator signings, and keynote addresses from Stephanie Philips and Todd McFarlane. Representatives from companies including Dark Horse, Universal, eBay, Ignition, and the Women in Comics Collective are also slated to participate.
Marketing initiatives take center stage on Friday, Oct. 9, featuring specialized panels such as The Syndicate's "Marketing Art with Art." Organizers are pitching the event as an essential hub for career advancement and corporate networking across pop culture disciplines.
"The response to last year’s expansion of Professional Programming was overwhelmingly positive, and we wanted to create even more opportunities to bring our community of professionals and aspiring professionals together this year," Kristina Rogers, VP of ReedPop, Star Wars Celebration, and US Comics Portfolio, said in a statement to The Toy Book.
## Why It Matters
For major fan conventions, building out formal business tracks helps justify industry attendance at a time when studios and publishers are tightening event budgets. As licensing and consumer merchandise drive an increasing share of franchise revenue, integrating retail and dealmaking spaces directly alongside consumer fandom provides studios with a dual-purpose platform to gauge audience sentiment while securing wholesale and distribution agreements.
