Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw, the filmmaking team behind the acclaimed 2020 non-fiction feature *The Truffle Hunters*, are shifting their focus to European viniculture for their upcoming documentary project, *Burgundy*.
The feature explores the obsessive search for the perfect vintage across the famed French wine region. According to a report by Variety, the documentary follows a layered ensemble of characters embedded in the trade, ranging from traditional winemakers and cellar masters to top sommeliers.
Among the central figures is Guillaume, a dedicated wine critic whose life revolves entirely around tasting notes and terroir. The directors told Variety that Guillaume tastes more than 100 wines per day and approaches the beverage with spiritual reverence, even confessing to recurring dreams of drowning in wine.
Much like their previous work exploring the insular world of elderly truffle foragers in Northern Italy, Dweck and Kershaw aim to capture the sensory atmosphere and cultural rituals of an ancient artisanal craft facing modern pressures.
