Director Bassam Tariq and two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali officially unveiled their new feature, "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother," during its world premiere Saturday night at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to a report from Variety.
The project marks a long-awaited realization of the creative partnership between Tariq and Ali, who were initially teamed by Marvel Studios to revive the "Blade" franchise before Tariq exited the director's chair amid protracted pre-production delays.
In Tariq's latest film, Ali stars as Latif, a devout Muslim contract killer who embarks on a violent and emotional path following the sudden death of his wife.
Following its festival launch, the indie action drama is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Sept. 25.
For Hollywood Tomorrow, the project's swift transition from high-profile development to festival premiere illustrates how top-tier talent can channel creative momentum into nimble independent cinema when major studio franchise machinery grinds to a halt.
The fall rollout will test whether a grounded, faith-informed hitman thriller anchored by an established awards heavyweight can carve out meaningful box office space in an increasingly polarized theatrical landscape.
