The animated adaptation of Shinzo Keigo's manga series "Hirayasumi" is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on Japan's public broadcaster NHK General TV.

Co-producers Viz Media and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions (ShoPro) released introductory footage, key promotional art, and the identity of the lead voice cast, according to reporting by Variety. Animation studio Production +h. is attached to handle physical production on the project.

Global distribution strategies remain incomplete, with international streaming partners and territories outside of Japan yet to be finalized or disclosed by the production committee.

The extended lead time before the television debut highlights how early rights holders are establishing public footprints for literary properties. As Hollywood Tomorrow observes across international distribution markets, setting multi-year runways allows studios to structure worldwide licensing, merchandise, and streaming deals before linear broadcasts begin.

Keigo's underlying manga has gained traction for its subdued, slice-of-life narrative framework, presenting an alternative profile to the high-concept action franchises that routinely dominate cross-border anime licensing.
