British game studio Frontier Developments has finalized an agreement with Disney to develop a new title built around the entertainment giant's intellectual property, according to a report from GamesIndustry.biz.
Specific details regarding the project remain under wraps. Neither company has disclosed the exact franchise involved, targeted platforms, or a projected release window for the upcoming title.
Based in Cambridge, Frontier is best known across the industry for its management and simulation titles, including theme-park builder *Planet Coaster*, zoo simulator *Planet Zoo*, and space sim *Elite Dangerous*. The developer is no stranger to studio IP, having previously produced licensed titles such as *Jurassic World Evolution* and *F1 Manager*.
## Outsourced Interactive Model
The pact reflects Disney's established interactive strategy, which prioritizes third-party licensing over internal video game development. Rather than funding costly internal production teams, the studio continues to place its catalog of film, television, and animation brands into the hands of experienced external developers.
For Frontier, securing a marquee entertainment brand offers a potentially steady revenue driver. The studio has spent the past year recalibrating its release pipeline to refocus on its proven management simulation strengths following mixed commercial performances in other genres.
Disney has broadened its video game footprint significantly over the past five years, signing major licensing partnerships across multiple tiers of the games industry to monetize its film and television libraries.
