Fox Sports lead NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews recalled believing her on-air career was effectively finished when an illegally recorded video surfaced online in 2009.

Speaking on a Wednesday appearance on the *Call Her Daddy* podcast, as reported by TheWrap, Andrews detailed the circumstances surrounding the invasion of privacy, which occurred during a period of rapid career momentum at ESPN.

Andrews explained that the perpetrator exploited publicly available production itineraries to follow her between assignments. Her regular appearances on network programs such as *College GameDay* and *Thursday Night Football* made her travel schedule easy to track at a time when she did not use hotel aliases.

"I had this disgusting person following me around cities," Andrews said during the interview, according to TheWrap. "It was very well publicized where [ESPN's] 'College GameDay' was going to be, where 'Thursday Night Football' was going to be and I didn't have an alias. I didn't think I was a big deal."

At the time, Andrews was fielding major career opportunities, including prospective appearances on *Dancing With the Stars* and hosting duties at the ESPY Awards. That trajectory was interrupted when a blogger contact reached her during a travel day to Atlanta to alert her that the unauthorized footage had been published online.

"I said, 'No, there's not, I don't do that. I just don't,'" Andrews recalled of her initial disbelief, telling the host that she first assumed the claim was completely fabricated.

The 2009 ordeal ultimately became a watershed moment for personal security and corporate duty of care regarding on-air broadcast talent. In the years that followed, sports networks and talent agencies overhauled travel logistics and hotel booking protocols for traveling reporters, while Andrews went on to secure premier sideline and hosting roles across the industry.
