German video game studio Limbic Entertainment has officially parted ways with Bandai Namco after the Japanese publisher offloaded the company to an undisclosed private investor.
The divestment, completed in December 2025, marks the end of Bandai Namco's controlling ownership roughly three years after it acquired a majority position in the studio, according to a report from GamesIndustry.biz.
Financial terms surrounding the transaction were not made public. Bandai Namco had previously taken its controlling stake in Limbic for an undisclosed sum, part of a push at the time to expand its Western production capabilities.
## Shifting Publisher Strategies
Limbic, known for strategy and simulation titles, will now operate under its new private ownership structure as the broader gaming sector navigates ongoing market corrections.
The transaction highlights a continuing trend of major international publishers streamlining operations and trimming overseas studio footprints to mitigate rising production costs and consolidate focus around core franchises.
Neither party has detailed the forward-looking intellectual property or distribution agreements tied to Limbic's active pipeline following the ownership change.
