International sales firm Balanga has finalized its first batch of international distribution agreements for the factual feature "Beasts of the Colosseum," Variety reports.

The historical documentary has been picked up by German public broadcaster ZDF for its Terra X slot, SVT in Sweden, and Radio-Canada across the Atlantic.

The project was developed by Antoine Henriquet's banner AH! Production in tandem with Jean-Luc Berlot's Adline. Built for French outlet Novo 19, the production also secured Italian commercial network Mediaset as an associate partner.

The deal announcements arrive just ahead of the Unifrance Rendez-Vous market, a key showcase where French production companies and sales agents pitch new slates to international acquisition teams.

Securing multi-territory commitments before major trade markets highlights steady international appetite for specialized history documentaries. For European production outfits, locking down pre-sales with established public broadcasters remains a vital mechanism to offset production costs and establish global footprints outside standard streaming exclusivity models.
