Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit against her former temporary tour manager, alleging civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation following a dispute that originated at a British airport.
According to court filings obtained by TheWrap, Morissette claims Keren Urinov launched a calculated blackmail effort against her after an overseas travel incident. The suit describes Urinov as a disgruntled ex-staffer seeking an unearned long-term payout.
## Airport Seizure
The dispute centers on an event from July 12, 2025, at Farnborough Airport in the United Kingdom. British Border Force officials detained a bag allegedly containing marijuana and xylazine. The legal complaint states that Urinov admitted ownership of the luggage to border authorities at the time and was subsequently arrested and served with a seizure notice.
Morissette alleges that Urinov later threatened to report to UK authorities that the singer was engaged in drug trafficking. In exchange for silence, Urinov allegedly demanded a guaranteed 15-year contract as Morissette's tour director alongside substantial financial compensation.
Morissette's filing states that she filed the suit to expose the coercion rather than yield to the financial demands.
For major recording artists running complex international stadium and arena runs, operational disputes with traveling personnel can create major legal headaches. Managing border compliance and staff liabilities remains one of the music industry's most delicate touring challenges.
