The United States, Russia, and Ukraine are scheduled to convene in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 10-11 for renewed peace discussions aimed at establishing a path toward ending the conflict, according to a report from Axios.
American envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff will head the U.S. delegation. According to a statement from Witkoff cited by Axios, the sessions will center on post-war security frameworks, humanitarian aid, de-escalation measures, and forward planning for peace.
The upcoming summit follows direct preliminary discussions conducted by Kushner and Witkoff with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Diplomatic channels had previously stalled in February following the outbreak of conflict in Iran.
Ahead of the Abu Dhabi meeting, working-level American diplomats are gathering in Brussels this week with counterparts from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and NATO. Those discussions are set to evaluate European security architecture, economic strategies, and long-term security guarantees for Kyiv.
Significant hurdles remain despite the diplomatic opening. While the White House sought to encourage negotiations by easing sanctions on Russian diesel shipments, Moscow has refused to halt combat operations or agree to a ceasefire. Zelensky cautioned on Monday that Ukrainian intelligence expects a major Russian missile strike targeting domestic energy and logistics networks during the U.S. midterm elections.
